The Many Moods of Blue.

The majority of people choose blue as their favorite color.  Is this because of it's cooling and calming effect?  Blue is a common color in both fashion and interior design; a fashion staple, as well as a designer's tool.

Blue and white is one of the most popular color combinations and is seen in a variety of interior styles.

This room is proof that blue can be sexy and sophisticated.  Paired with stark white, a bold blue accent is anything but serene.  Instead, it's exciting and energetic.

Blue can be both bold and bright or soft and soothing.  The orange cameroon provides the perfect pop of color while the zebra rug gives the room that zing factor.  From the slate blue walls to the indigo chairs, the varying shades of blue contrast beautifully with warm wood tones to maintain the perfect balance between warm and cool.

Slate blue and camel are a sophisticated and sexy color combination.

The deep cobalt walls enclose the space and give it a sense of coziness and intimacy.

Deep indigo sofas ground the room designed in an otherwise restrained color palette

This serene bedroom covered in blue and white toile makes for an opulent private sanctuary.

This eye-catching living room utilizes layers of pattern in various shades of blue.  It's surprising that with the use of so many patterns the mood remains serene and inviting.  The patterns add both interest and texture.

One striking bold accent wall is balanced with an otherwise neutral palette.  The vibrant blue remains balanced with bold accessories and an abundance of white.

In this dining area designed by Frank Roop, linear stripes of varying shades of blue and camel wrap around the room.  The linear vibe is enchoes in the furniture and lighting.  It would fit perfectly in a modern beach house.

This living room is both chic and urbane, juxtapositioning a teal rug and indigo curvaceous framed mirror with a sleek chartreuse chair and accessories.

Blue evokes memories of the beach.  This living room, designed in a color palette that is reminiscent of sand, sea and sky, appears fresh and breezy.

With overscaled blue and white Chinese jars, this entry way looks crisp, clean and all-American.

Blue and white Asian ginger jars line the white shelves.  Then, the blue and white pattern pops off the china and onto the gingham window seat.  It's the feeling of casual elegance; a relaxed, sophisticated, cool, classic ambience.  Blue is timeless and never trendy.

Blue is the perfect color choice for a boy's bedroom.  This one beautifully combines stripes and plaid.  Covered in the same stripe, the headboard and window treatment blends with the wall.
