From Drab to Fab

Let me preface this by letting you know that one day a week, my lovely sister-in-law takes my four year old for the day.  So, I have from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. all by myself.  I take her kids one day a week also, so it works out well for both of us.  Anyway, I normally have a plan for my day and I try to cram as much as possible into those precious 6.5 hours.  Today, I finished all the things on my list a little after 2:00 p.m.  Not wanting to waste any "alone" time, I decided to give this whole stenciling project a try.
I started the project at 2:30 p.m. and I was completely finished with everything cleaned up by 5:30 p.m.   I can't believe how easy it was.  I am loving the new look!

Wow, how boring is that.

Here is the first step.

Just about halfway there.  Even after 25 or so interruptions, I was making some serious progress.
It got a bit tricky around the toilet, sink and window, but it was nothing
a novice stenciler like myself couldn't handle.

And again, here it is all finished.

It really made the room look finished.  I didn't realize how unfinished the room looked until I saw the before and after pictures.  Since I won the stencil and I already had the paint, my total cost for the project was only $8.00 (for the spray adhesive needed for the back of the stencil).  I'm pretty proud, if I do say so myself. If you are thinking about trying a stenciling project, check out Olive Leaf Stencils.  They have a great selection and the instructions are very detailed.
