Nesting

My daughter and I decided to get a little crafty today.  I saw this idea in Country Living.
Our nests didn't turn out as lovely as the ones in the magazine, but nonetheless, it was a fun little project.

This is what you will need:
-  two small bowls
-  saran wrap
-  glue and water
-  shredded book pages or a shredded brown paper bag
-  an eager eight year old comes in very handy, but not required

Here is the eager eight year old. 

Directions:

-   Tightly cover one of the bowls with saran wrap and turn upside down
-   Mix 1/2 glue and 1/2 water together in one of the bowls
-   Dip the shredded paper strips into the glue/water mixture and start spreading haphazardly onto the        bottom of the bowl
-   Once the entire bowl is covered, start lightly pressing dry strips of paper over top of the other strips.         This creates the nesting effect
-   Let the nest dry for 12 hours and then remove from the saran wrap

Tips:
We placed a piece of wax paper on a baking sheet to keep the mess contained
We set the bowl on a can of soup to keep it from sitting directly on the wax paper.

Here is the finished product.

This is another one we made out of old shredded book pages.

It brought a bit of a spring touch to the house which was desperately needed since it was snowing here three days ago.

If I can only keep my kids from eating all the eggs.  

This would make great easy, inexpensive gifts for easter.  Wrap it up in some clear cellophane, add a cute ribbon and call it a day.  Looks like I will be making some more!
