A Bowl Full of Prayers

Since I didn't start this blog until January of this year, I haven't gotten a chance to blog about Christmas yet.  Don't worry, I'm not one of those people that keep their Christmas lights up all year (not that there's anything wrong with that).  I do love Christmas though.  One of my favorite things about Christmas is getting Christmas cards from friends and family.  I always hang them up and display them during the holiday.  I also save them so I can see how all the kids have changed from year to year.

I wanted to leave them up all year long, but then I ran across this idea.  I wish I could remember where I first saw it.  Nonetheless, I think it's a great idea and thought I would share it with you all.  I put all the cards in this lovely handcrafted wooden bowl (made by Jim Mason, my sister-in-law's father).  Each night when we are having family dinner, one of my kids grabs a card from the bowl and we say a prayer for that family.  Okay, yes, it usually starts with my kids fighting over who gets to pick the card, but once that is settled, we pray.

What about you, do you save your Christmas cards?  Only 193 more days until Christmas!  Not that I'm counting.
