Okay, so do you remember that post from a few weeks ago that hinted at a room I had never spoken of before? Well I am going to talk about it now because in just a few months that room is going to become a nursery! That's right, we are expecting here at Main Street House and found out yesterday that a healthy baby boy will be joining our family at the end of February.
I love both of my girls so much but I will not hesitate to tell you how excited I am to be having a little boy! I don't think this little nugget has any idea what he is in for:).
I have been coming up with a pseudo design scheme for this nursery for a while now and was keeping it kind of general neutral with touches that could take it both ways. My main inspiration for the design scheme is the book "On the Night You Were Born".

I just love the illustration in this book so much and we just happen to have two copies of it so I won't feel bad cutting one up to use for decor:) The base color for the entire room is going to be gray/silver and then my plan was to add touches of yellow/gold if it was a girl and touches of blue if it was a boy. So, Blue it is!
This first think I am going to do is take some of my favorite pages from this book and mount them in these great frames from IKEA. If I have any left over I am going to see if I can maybe make some cute bunting or something to hang over the crib.
On a more interesting note. One of the reasons I have never spoken of this room before is because it is a little room (6feetx9feet) and there is not much you can do with it, so it has been a bit of generic room until now. It currently houses the dresser we use as our linen closet, a bookshelf, a doll house, and two stuffed chairs for the girls. The fact that it was a little bit of a private room for the girls (and there was a bookshelf in it) let it to be called the Library. A term we used loosely and a term we will be using no more!!!
Now, even though this is a small room I think it will be perfect as a nursery. There are two large windows in the room to let in the natural light and it is the perfect size for a crib, rocking chair, and changing table. The dresser will go right outside the door but that is a perfect spot for it too.
Okay, so here is my design plan as of right now:
We already have white nursery furniture that Both Girls used soI thought that adding just a nice crisp white bumper pad would be perfect. Then for the two large window I think we may just do some really simple navy curtains. I am totally in love with ticking strip right now and think that this vintage blue ticking strip pillow will look great on the antique rocking chair I plan to refinish. The gray rug we already have and although it does have flowers on it, it fits perfectly in the room so we will keep it there. I want to do a silver/gray paint on the walls and these galvanized tubs, although I will not be putting wine in them as the picture shows, will make great bins to put on the changing table to hold diapers, burp cloths, and whatever else we need to stash there!
In addition to decorating, The Husband has some big projects of putting up a bead board ceiling, patching all of the walls and replacing the cheap molding in there. When all is said and done I may have to say that the smallest room in our house will probably be the nicest:)
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!!
