Winter's Decor

Books

I am still in the midst of transitioning from Christmas décor to winter décor.
It has been a slow process because I take one room, one shelf, one hutch etc…
at a time.

I have been enjoying this transition – shopping from my home and searching for things with a subdued coloring.

This is why I am excited about something I have wanted to do for a while.
I have been wanting to place my books showing the pages rather than the binding. I have seen a few of you very imaginative, creative ladies do this – with great success!

To me, filling my bookcases in the wintertime with books feels just right. It is the cozy time – where we spend more time indoors and look for ways to entertain.
I have loved books all my life – I think I practically lived my childhood in a library or lying crosswise on my bed reading book after book.

I have been blessed to find and to be gifted some very old books.
They are displayed with newer ones throughout the house.

I tend to group books by binding color, so I kept it this way while arranging books and accessories on the shelves. I found accessories that are muted, subdued – a winter palate.

On the book trough behind the couch I have this sweet little cloche with this heart I received when I purchased pillows and sachets from
Char at Some Place in Thyme. She has fantastic things in her store!

I have only finished the built-in bookcase on the right – here’s a glimpse of a few shelves on the left. It is still behind the Christmas tree, my daughter and husband cleared away the ornaments last night and it needs to be moved.

Coming along in my winter decorating and cleaning. How are you doing?
Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate you and look forward to all that we will share in 2012!
