The world famous Ritz Paris hotel founded by Cesar Ritz and chef Auguste Escoffier in 1898 is scheduled to close its doors for a projected 27 months this July 2012 to embark on what the hotel is calling an "unprecedented" renovation.
The last such major renovation was in 1979. Despite receiving continued high marks from travel critics and its guests( i.e. Tripadvisor & Virtual Tourist), the hotel was recently overlooked in France's Ministry of Tourism "palace" designation award. An important recognition for which it had a long history of being a top honoree for many years. The designer selected to oversee the project is the talented Thierry W. Despont.
Below are some beautiful photos taken of 2 of the 6 prestigious suites being offered at the Ritz Paris hotel which are designed in the classicism style. Truly opulent and sophisticated interiors which are a great inspiration for those of us that adore the timeless look of past centuries. It's hard to believe these spaces needing a renovation.
