We've been at this for 3 days straight.

When we could be outside doing fun stuff.

Wake me when the taxes are finished.
Guess what?!! I'm We are finished. Webster will be so happy tomorrow. He's sick of all the filing, calculating, shuffling through papers, pencil sharpening, highlighting, and especially the shredding. The only fun part for him will be the ride in the car to the post office on Monday. Whew. I'm glad that's over for another year.

Hi Everyone, I don't have much to say, today. My dog, Buster, is getting surgery on his eyelid. He has a growth that is getting larger, so it needs to be removed....and we are having his teeth cleaned while he is "under". Since he is my furry child, I am worried (fyi, it doesn't take much to get me to worry).
Hopefully, he will do better with his schoolwork (oops....wrong child)
I guess he will need to give up drinking for a while (oops...wrong adult)
I will be happy when this day is over, and I know that everyone is home safe and sound.

Have a good sleep tonight so you'll be fit as a fiddle for St. Patrick's Day and don't forget to wear something green tomorrow. I took this photo with my new iPad.

My new device of torture arrived yesterday and I think I'm going to love it. Webster is a little scared of it though. He watched me and all of my failed attempts to get it going yesterday and he knows to watch out when it falls to the ground. I did manage 49 consecutive twirls with this 4 pound weighted hula hoop. A friend of mine has a daughter who swears by hers. I ordered it less than a week ago for $38 and I think it's going to be perfect when I master getting it going for 15 minutes straight. I'm told this will take about 2 weeks. Webster stood on the other side of the kitchen opening and barked and barked and stuck his head through and pulled it back a number of times before finally being unable to resist a Trader Joe's biscuit. Isn't he brave?

I can just hear what he's thinking now that he has retired to the vestibule: "I hope the thing won't fit in this small space so I can nap in peace."

Piggy isn't here but we still talk about him. My mother was eating some chocolate and he didn't get a bite because dogs aren't supposed to eat any -- but he did get to lick the soup bowl. I hope he misses us. Webster doesn't seem to care one way or another. He likes being only dog or guest host equally well. It's supposed to be 66 degrees today with spring in the air.

The Pig is back for a one-night sleepover. He and Webster had a long walk when he first arrived at 4:00. They had dinner at 5:30 and I took them for another long walk. They are both sound asleep but I might wake them up again for another one before settling down for the night. I think I'll bed Piggy down with me so he will stay put since he didn't bring his crate. He is the cutest house guest ever and no trouble at all. Goodnight.

I had a real estate closing this week and found this used dog toy in the house, left behind by the previous dog. Score for Webster. He carries this loon around with him and sleeps with the squeaky toy too. It's only a little worse for wear with a damaged beak but Webster doesn't seem to mind at all. Have a great weekend.

Webster has a window on his world in this spot. He can watch me cook in the kitchen straight ahead, see my mother if she comes upstairs to his right, look out the french door to the balcony on his left, and nap whenever the moment is right. His dog dish is within sight from here too. I had a request for a Webster update so here he is. I might add that he has taken to sneaking on this sofa in the middle of the night too which does not please me at all.He must have gotten tired of this sofa on the other side of the room. Little guy is Piggie who came for a sleepover.
And this one opposite the fireplace. I give up.

We are on our way home from Florida. In fact, by the time you read this...we will be back in New Jersey. Shortly, I will post some pictures from Legoland. For now, I am missing my dog. I have posted about him before. He is my third child. We all love him...but I like to think that I am his favorite. I feed him, and he remembers that.
I have about 4 different names for him. None of them are his actual name. Shmooboo, Doodoo, Shoeshoe, Coocoo. They all sound roughly the same...and he comes when I call. I can't be alone in this.....so, what do you call your pet?

"I promise not to make the lady sick."
I had a really good turnout at an open house I hosted today. I was doing it alone in an empty house so I decided at the last minute to take Webster along. It turned out to be a genius idea. He was Mr. Meet and Greet and [almost] everybody loved him. One lady said she was allergic so I put Webster on the sunporch. He did everything imaginable to keep this from happening. He made himself small and put on his dog brakes. He was in there for 10 minutes at most out of a 3 hour stint. He licked babies, played with little boys, kissed men and women both young and old. He was a great ice breaker too. From now on, he's my new assistant. He is exhausted from all the excitement and has already gone to bed after his early dinner.

He's so happy to be wearing his horse-blanket coat again. You know how he likes to be wrapped up.
-click photo to enlarge-I thought this was a nice snow pattern on one of the spruce trees out front.

I popped a couple of Totino's frozen Party Pizzas in the oven for lunch. My mom and I love them. We always get triple cheese and add some toppings. Today I added feta cheese, green olives and the pimentos from the salad olives. The oven was preheated to 450 and I cooked them directly on the second from the bottom oven rack for 13 minutes. I used the wooden rack puller/pusher twice.
This was a perfect cold weather Friday lunch without leaving the house. Webster enjoyed a crusty bite from each of us.

Any day that begins with an oatmeal pan is a good one. A while later I discovered this scene in the bedroom.

Please don't put the pan in the sink to soak yet. I'm not finished with it. Is this the dog equivalent of breakfast in bed? I know this looks like a dog bed but it is actually MY bed. The wonder dog jumped up on it with the pan in his mouth.

You can always get warm in the winter if your human throws a wool blanket over you after you arrange the pillows the way you want them. You can't always get cool in the summer. Life is good here at the cottage. Have a great weekend. Goodnight.
