My husband and I attended a Pastor’s Conference in Tennessee earlier this week. It was such a lovely break for us to spend time together – resting, relaxing and rejuvenating.
We stayed at a campground near a lake – the view from the hilltop was breathtaking. Several of the participants woke early to view the sunrise over the southeastern hills beyond the lake.
Sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch we marveled at the beauty of God’s creation. He has given us so many gifts to enjoy.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from one end of heaven,
And its circuit to the other end;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
Psalm 19:1-6
In the pasture below the hilltop several horses were grazing – not fazed one bit by our presence.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and during one of our walks, I discovered beautiful, large acorns.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11
I began to pick some up to bring home – decorating and craft ideas floating in my head. My dear husband asked me what I was doing and I gleefully told him – collecting acorns to decorate with – he then bent down and helped me collect some until we had to be at our next session.
The final day he asked me if I wanted to collect some more – I said yes and thought – you are such a dear man!
Some of the participants passed us as they left and laughed telling us we looked like squirrels.
We laughed along with them!
We were also able to take a boat ride on the lake. It was quite lovely and serene.
On our way home my husband surprised me and detoured off our route to take me out to dinner at The Blue Willow Inn.
He had opportunity to go with co-workers earlier this year and knew I’d love to visit. It was very quaint and charming – the southern food was just what you’d expect.
I had a marvelous time and was so thankful to see all who have visited and left comments – I am playing catch up today – I will try to return your call as soon as I can!
