I'm really trying to budget my money better lately, and one way I'm doing that is by mixing and matching outfits! Clearly it would be obvious if I wore the three outfits above one day after another, but spacing them out a few weeks apart would be doable :) Remember that one goal of mine for 2012? Start investing in clothing. This means I want to buy less clothing, but I want the clothes I do buy to be of good quality- lasting me for a while!These outfits are me trying to mix my staple items (blazer, leather jacket, boots} with other less expensive and fun pieces.
I'm also really keen on the color red right now. I've never really experimented with red in my wardrobe, but let me tell ya...I'm likin' it. I'm liking it so much that I may have bought a red lipstick the other day to be friends with the red sweater. What can I say? It was calling my name. Over the weekend I got to check off another thing on my birthday list...colored denim. I love this color {purple-ish...duh!} I paired it with a green colored top with the same color flowers as the jeans. Perfect match for a warm California day? Yes! Be sure to get yourself a pair of the same jeans from Anthro...they're on sale and come in coral and kelly green, too!
Seeing as I have some birthday money to Nordstrom and it's the Half-Yearly Sale, I'm picking out some of my favorite finds:
Definitely in them market for a pair of nude heels...Or cute new ballet flats...especially some Tory Burch (: Loving this long sleeve dress. You know me- definitely rather wear dresses than pants any day! And of course, to stay warm, a new cozy jacket would be perfect! Since the sunglasses I was wearing in the pictures above are my moms {I know...she's so chic with her marc jacobs} It's time for me to invest in a pair of non-grocery store sunglasses. I know what you're thinking..."But Michaela, it's never sunny in Seattle." To that I say...you're right! But maybe buying them will help the sun stay out a little!These Kate Spade ones will do (:Have you found anything that you've got your eye after?! Last week when my mama was in town, we went shopping {what we do best!} and she bought me this sweet black dress from Meadow- the boutique I work at in Seattle. It's my birthday dress, which means I'm wearing it for my family party on Sunday, but of course I had to give it a test run (:
I love that it will ease right into winter time, too, with the addition of a long coat, scarf, & an extra pair of leggings.
Now about that birthday coming up next week....Here's my Birthday Wish List:
1. Oh, Lola by Marc Jacobs OR Twirl by Kate Spade perfume. Preferences anyone?!
2. Boots- one of my fave looks is wearing leg warmers or socks coming out of tall boots.
3. Colored Jeans
4. Design Sponge at Home
5. New Fall/Winter jacket
I'll let ya know how I fare after the weekend (:
Today I'm flying home to California for the weekend. I can't wait to see the family and chill. Rhiannon from Hey Gorg is also in San Francisco right now, so we're planning a really classy meet up at the SF airport right after I land (: Hooray!

Last weekend at our photo shoot of my room, we did a few shots of my new little West Elm purchase. I also had a little red dress hanging in my closet with birdies on it and thought it would be ever-so-cute if I held a bird while wearing birds. Ha (:

Red has never been my favorite color to wear, but when I saw it had little blue birds on the dress, I was smitten. My only red article of clothing has made its appearance, and for some reason I keep finding myself wearing it. When do you think people will start to notice?(: Do you love wearing red?

Yep, you read that right- Fashion Friday is back. With a bang of course! I think it's fun to keep you all guessing(: Friday is kind of a mixed bag of fashion, pretty things, hair tutorials, and the like!
After Megan and I spent the day in Pineville exploring her college and indulging in some fro-yo, we headed for Baton Rouge. I really did get the full Louisiana state tour! We went right to the capitol building and loved the area so much, we took the opportunity for some photos.

There's something about twirling, isn't there? Especially in dress that is ruffly and forms the shape of a cupcake when you spin. It brought me back to my childhood- twirling around in the middle of the park barefoot. My heart was full of joy. So when I got home I added these to my list of 1000 things I'm thankful for...
