Things that make life Delightsome

5th Thursday - Anything Goes:

I truly did not know whichdirection I would like to go in this

post. Up to the very last minute Ihad several ideas bombarding my imagination. I had to step back and look at itall. I have so many projects ongoing, 

not ready to share that I have felt like

Scarlett from Gone With The Wind, 

“I’llthink about that tomorrow”. Well, tomorrow is here!

I was thinking about doing ahodgepodge of topics to share – to

get your opinion….I’ll still dothis in another post.

But, for today – I am feeling agreat need to focus on what does make my life Delightsome. Things that make you pause in your daily life. 

So, here are a few of those things….

Butterflies and Flowers 

Flower Arrangements

Laundry blowing in the wind

Fresh fruits and vegetables

Beautiful sunsets and sunrises

Bees..beeswax candles...and honey

Discovering old things

Surprise encounters

Unconditional love from pets

A serene place to sit

Teatime and something good to read

Family fun and laughter

YOU

and most importantly knowing Jesus loves you

Painted Cookies

and

Lavender Lemonade

4th Thursday - Cooking:

This is one ofthe most fun things to do.

Paint sugarcookies.

Long before Ibegan blogging, I followed several blogs.

One of theseblogs was Once Upon a Plate. If you

are not familiarwith Mari’s blog – you’re definitely

in for a treat! Sheis a talented cook and photographer.

I first discovered painted sugar cookies on her blog.

I have beenlooking for an opportunity to paint cookies – spring seems a good reason asany.

To paint the cookies I used this sugar cookie recipe. 

I allowed them to completely cool, then I applied a coating of Royal icing also allowing it to completely dry.

I used Wilton gel food coloring to paint the cookies.

You can add water and adjust the amount to give you lighter and darker colors.

I also used AmeriColor Gourmet Write edible pens.

I plan to takethese with me to Bible study tonight

to go along withour coffee.

For you, I createdthis light-hearted tablescape and

prepared a pitcherof Lavender Lemonade –

This is such alight, refreshing drink – you’ll love it!

Several yearsback, my husband and I were sponsors

Chaperoning childrento a summer Christian camp.

I painted thisbirdhouse in the craft room that week and I thought it would add a cheerybalance to the

birdcage. 

I chosepastel colored dishes, my Pink Lemonade tablecloth to act as backdrop to the

painted cookies.

There’s a placejust for you and one for me!

I hope you enjoythe painted cookies and 

the Lavender lemonade –

Royal Icing:

1 cup powdered (confectioner's) sugar

1 egg white (or powdered egg whites)

3-4 drops lemon juice

food coloring

To make the icing:

Mix the sugar, egg white and lemon juice in a small bowl until smooth and creamy, it should have the consistency of heavy cream.
