Flea Today & Tomorrow!

Posted by MAKMU ta On Friday, February 19, 2010

Hey, Western Washington Junkers, we just found out about a last-minute flea market near us! Thanks to Debi Burton at Ormolulu for sharing the news:

Friday at 10:00 AM and Saturday 10 - 4 Flea/Swap Meet.
Exit #208 from I-5, about EIGHT miles North of Everett.
Sylvana is about three miles West of the freeway.

There will be over 30 dealers there selling their wares at great prices!
{including Debi Burton, so say hello!}
Food, vintage, household, garden, tools & computers, etc.
Bargains galore!

$1 per person admission donation requested

This is a fund-raiser for Viking Hall in Sylvana . . . badly in need of remodeling. Tiny community in need of your support. While in Sylvana, shop at Sylvana Mercantile, too - a great small antiques & collectibles mall!

{Thanks for the info, Karen - I adjusted the mileage estimates!}

Flea Market Style Magazine

Posted by MAKMU ta On Monday, February 08, 2010

It's OUT!!!!

Ki Nassauer just posted on her blog that copies of the new magazine 'Flea Market Style' are arriving in stores already! It wasn't supposed to release until February 23rd, but it looks like we are all getting an early Valentine's Day gift!

To those who have asked: Go to the Flea Market Style blog for information on where to find the mag, and no, subscriptions are not available. Yet. If this brand new INDEPENDENT magazine receives support by us purchasing it,  it can continue to be published on a regular basis and then subscriptions may be available.

The photo above shows you what you should be scourin' the magazine racks for!{And be sure to look for stories by Heather Bullard on the BH Boys and the Queen of Tarte in there}

Junk Collage?

Posted by MAKMU ta On Thursday, January 21, 2010

I Googled 'Collaged Furniture' and found this image.

{Silly me. I was thinking paper collaged onto furniture... not furniture collaged onto furniture!} Artist Thomas Wold's creation, as seen on Apartment Therapy blog, reminds me of the casework created for a retail wine shop that I wrote about on my retail design blog. This stuff is COOL and I'm heading out to the shop to grab some 'junk orphans' to see what I can create. What do you think about it?? Too progressive for the vintage set - or just quirky enough to elicit squeals of delight?
