Swooning Over...

Posted by MAKMU ta On Thursday, February 16, 2012

...everything West Elm! I had the opportunity to visit the Seattle store {which is ah-mazing} last night for a blogger's Spring line tour. With every new product came another "ooohh" and "awww" from my lips. I came armed with my camera and am now here to report my very favorite new finds.

Awesome new indoor garden...we got a suspended glass bubble as a gift to put a succulent in. I can't wait to try it out!

Adorable bowls and kitchen goods...

Cute Easter/Springtime tablescape...

West Elm's first oh-so-stylish recliner!

Most genius coffee table I've ever seen in.my.life...the Rustic Storage Coffee Table {sale}
It totally eliminates the ugly TV trays! Am I right?!

Mirrored Buffet

Rustic Kitchen table:

Lots of pretty bedding...

This whole area is all very affordable bedding starting at just $69! Perfect for dorm room bedding.

Loved their idea to turn the books around, so the pages face the viewer. So much lovely texture!

Well, picture over load is over. I hope you take some time to visit their website! Or better yet, a store location, because my goodness...it is an experience! And just so you know, you may think their prices are high {like Pottery Barn or Williams Sonoma}, but they are the lowest price point of the three stores. This is one reason I love them most- they have the most affordable and stylish {in my opinion!} home goods around :)  I picked a little something up for a lucky reader...more details to come soon on that giveaway.

**I was not compensated for this post in any way, I simply love West Elm and their products!**

What's your favorite new item?!
Have a beautiful Thursday!

Girls Night Out with West Elm

Posted by MAKMU ta On Friday, October 07, 2011

On Wednesday night West Elm had the big grand opening for their new Seattle store! It was a ball.  They throw quite the party, let me tell ya (:

In the morning, my friend Cassie {from my design major! blog coming soon!} and I were able to go to their preview. Our friends at West Elm gave us the full tour of the stunning new store! We received details on the architecture, design and all of their products.  We also had the privilege of getting a sneak peek at all the Holiday goodies.  I have to say, if you're looking for some awesome Thanksgiving and Christmas decor, look no further...WE is your place. They have the most stylish and current holiday decor I've seen in quite some time.  I love how they make their holiday products tasteful and unique. {Lots of mercury glass, people!} I'll be sure to highlight my favorites soon!

For now, I'll show you some of my favorite pieces we saw on Wednesday...

This owl came home with me:

So did one of these amazing pillows:

Sadly this chair didn't fit in my car...or my budget (; But what a great new canary color!

Luxurious bedding and stunning headboard:

Sitting on my all time favorite settee {Elton Settee} that I sourced for an e-design client a few months back. Finally sitting on the real thing!

Holiday metallic prettiness:

Loving the layering:

At night, we went back to WE for the grand opening bash! And that it was, as there were probably close to 600 people in the building! Here's my good friend Cassie and I at the party:

My blog friend Megan of Splendid Design also met us there! So fun to hang out for the night (:

And I guess you could say {between my William Sonoma discount and the 10% off for the night} we did some damage:

Alright, I kid...only 2 of the 4 bags are mine! But still...great stuff.

And don'tcha worry...I didn't forget about you! I brought home a souvenir for a lucky reader.  Giveaway next week (:

A few things you can do on the weekend:
1. Enter West Elm's sweepstakes & chance to win a trip to NYC!
2. Enter the Twirl Photography Giveaway posted on Monday...only a few more days to enter.
3. Enjoy the days off with family and friends.  Soak up the beginning of Autumn (:

I'm Back, Y'all!

Posted by MAKMU ta On Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Seriously, if I was in Louisiana for as much as one more day, I'd speak fluent southern drawl.  I never thought it'd be so easy to pick up saying y'all and all the other little short cut words.  For example: gettin', potata's, yellin', geet {did you eat?}, git-ova-her {get over here!}

My trip to visit Megan {Mackey Madness} was nothing short of amazing. An epic blogger meet up, really.  We just get each other, and I'm beyond blessed to have her in my life.  There's something so amazing about finding a friend out there who has the same values, beliefs, and passions as you. Oh- and helps that she's darlin' and hilarious, too (: I'm so happy we finally made our friendship a real life one!

We took so many pictures, so I'm going to weed through them by doing a day-by-day recap.  Here's day one of our trip.

Louisiana Day 1: Shreveport
They picked me up from the airport and had a sign for me! Then they took me to a cupcake shop and straight to Sonic for a cherry lime-aid.

Next we went to dinner at Cheddars and I had my first ever Sweet Tea.  It sure was sweet...let me tell ya! I've decided it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. Don't hate me (:

I also experienced this butter and honey croissant.  And then I gained 10lbs.
Best decision ever. Worth every pound!

The next morning Meg's hubby made us cinnamon rolls and we played with the puppies. Cashmere, Diesel, and Radar were just what I needed as a pick me up from loosing Shasta.  I want another doggie now! {Hear that dad?!}

After we had a lazy morning in, we took a drive out to down town Shreveport and shopped around at this cute place called the Boardwalk.  If you follow us on twitter, you know we indulged in chocolate covered pretzels and ice cream, one right after another!

Next, Meg took me to the chapel she and Justin were married in! So fun to see. I wish I had pictures to show you, but right after we took pictures of the chapel, we drove out to the Arkansas state line {20 minutes away} to take a picture....

And then we drove off back into town but had a little hiccup... here's what happened:

Camera= goner, phone=perfect condition thanks to her otterbox case:

So Megan's camera is no more :( It also had the picture of me tasting a piece of friend catfish, which if you know me, is unheard of, considering I haven't eaten {nor liked} seafood my whole life!  #sobrave
I'm sad to report that I didn't like it...but I checked it off my bucket list.

I also learned that you get WAY more food for your money in Louisiana than in California! All this was $7.69. Pure shock.

Needless to say, I love the South and Megan and I just had the best time. I can't wait to show you more pictures! In addition to recapping our trip, I've also captured some amazing southern homes I'll be sharing soon.  I have all topics covered!
Also, since I've never been to the South, I'll be sharing some things I've learned...
Day 1 Lesson Learned: You can fry absolutely anything.

Happy Monday!
What did Y'all do this weekend? (;

Field Trip + Decorate!

Posted by MAKMU ta On Monday, August 29, 2011

Last Thursday, Cristin {from Simplified Bee}, took me to the San Francisco Design Center on a little field trip before we met up at Anthropologie for Holly's Decorate book tour signing.

Touring the design center was a great opportunity. I feel like I was able to grasp how to make my way around, how to interact with showroom associates, and learned what an important asset living near a design center really is. By knowing how to utilize a design center near me, I'll be able to offer my clients many more options, looks and more beautiful interiors.

First stop, Duralee...

Martyn Lawrence Bullard's new line was out and we were loving it! Check out this fun ikat print...I was so smitten that I ordered a sample. Maybe I can make a bulletin board with it (:

After we explored there, we headed to dinner at Straits, which was FAB! See...we scarfed it down (:

 Then we walked to Anthropologie. Clearly I'm always a happy camper in that store, but Thursday night was even better than usual, as Holly Becker of Decor8 blog and the author of Decorate, was there doing a book signing!

Holly is darling and just so sweet. I loved how excited she was that I was going to school for design. Great encouragement (:
Me, Cristin, Holly

Also a highlight was seeing some familiar faces.  Crystal and Anne from Rue Magazine were there, as well as Caitlin from Sacramento Street. Love all those talented girls!

What a fun night. And what a wonderful design book. Thanks to Holly for writing, sharing, inspiring and visiting us all the way out in California.
In case you haven't picked up your copy yet, here's what you're missing!

Love this quote from the one and only, Nate Berkus...

Agreed! It's important to remember that everyone has a different design recipe to create a home they want to eat all up.  If you fill it with things you adore, you're well on your way!

Huge thanks to Anna from In Honor of Design for hosting a giveaway of Holly's book. I won the book a month ago and went through it the day I got it (:

Revisiting this little trip to the city certainly made my Monday sweeter. Have a wonderful start to your week and know I'm praying for all you East Coasters!
