Hi everyone - hope you are enjoying your Black Friday and to all our American readers, a Happy Thanksgiving. Just a very quick note to introduce my new Tumblr blog which might be of interest to some of you.
Because it's a Tumblr it's mainly visually inspiring material plus inspirational quotes. All the stuff I love and may appeal to some of my readers here.

Made from a $5 Ikea mirror. Pretty snappy with that red cord. I'm a sucker for colored cords!
from Manhattan Nest. Instructions at the link. (I can't imagine ever DIYing something electric though!)

In order for me to get to know my readers a little better I have put a little poll together over in the right sidebar. Please vote on your favourite topic that I cover here. Please leave any additional comments below this post.
What are your thoughts on the small toolbar along the bottom of the page? This has several useful information buttons including a translate button. My favourite is the traffic map, looking at all those little stars across the world in real time! Have you been using the toolbar? How do you find it?

Time for a little bit of info on my other blogs in case you find them interesting...
I have four main blogs at the moment and they are...
Journal of a Blog - just a baby but it's where I am sharing all of my blogging knowledge. I have so much to add but have only really covered the first few topics so far. I am asking all of my friends who individually ask me for blogging help to check out this blog first.
All For The Love of Vintage is a vintage inspiration blog mainly based around a certain kind of vintage photography so it's mainly photo inspiration like this blog. Another baby, but you can help it grow by joining in the fun!
Heather Jane Steeley is my personal blog and linked to my
main website. I do personal rants, inspiration posts, lifestyle stuff and share some graphic design news here.
The Art Nouveau Blog is inspirational mainly photography centering on the Art Nouveau style and a little Art Deco.
Finally people are asking me what happened to my Alice Magazine project...
Alice was a little weblog and then in print too. At the moment I don't have the time to commit to a full-on graphical print magazine but the website may soon be returning. A case of time!
So there you go, a little something different for the weekend. Have a fab one whatever you are doing!

Two days ago Rebecca from the lovely blog Acanthus & Acorn surprised me with this award! If she had not received it herself right now, I would have handed it to her as well! Go and see for yourself!Thank you very much! I am tickled pink! It gives me such pleasure to know that you think my blog stylish. And occasionally I am doubting my efforts, measured on the amount of readers or followers. I

The totally awesome and inspiring Morgan of
The Brick House just posted a tutorial on cleaning and restoring wood. I've got some sad, thirsty furniture in my apartment, so the post is a definite clip-n-save for me.

Well, I might have been ready to give up on
Lonny, but then
Design Crisis pointed out their
Kelly Wearstler feature, and I realized I had to look at it after all. I ended up discovering my favorite sort of before and after — one where both were designed by the same person. It's nice to see how tastes evolve (and budgets increase) over time.

Here is Ryan Korban, featured on
The Selby in 2008. That black kitchen was certainly eye catching! I seem to remember this photo being used in a lot of the early press about Todd Selby's photos.

Now here's Korban's apartment in the third isssue of
Lonny. Kitchen layout is the same. Same Chinese vase above the fridge, same white mirror. But the black paint has been replaced with a super bold wallpaper. Interesting, right?

I've enjoyed reading about
Door Sixteen's new project of fixing up a small apartment in Manhattan. Here's the kitchen: one black wall, two Eames chairs and a flip-down table from Ikea. The table seems particularly clever for a small space.
