Kitchen Designed for Comfort
Bridgehampton builder George Gavalas laid the groundwork, constructing a new house with a spacious rectangular kitchen rich in architectural details. His white wood cabinets with recessed panel doors are accented by pilasters, carved corbels, a plate rack, and a glass-fronted china cabinet. Carrara marble perimeter countertops and a marble mosaic backsplash are sophisticated, while bin-style pulls and a beadboard ceiling keep the mood informal. The white cabinets and marble are warmed by the toast-colored Australian cypress floor and a dark mahogany countertop on the large center island.
Gavalas designed the kitchen so traffic flows easily around the island, and a dining area at one end of the room makes it ideal for entertaining. Two sinks and ample work surfaces accommodate multiple cooks and others who just like to hang out.
To create an inviting eating area, Denyse brought in a large wood table--inspired by an English antique--that can extend to seat 12 people. The table also works as a serving area for buffets or as a place for children to do homework, she says.
Comfort was the mantra for seating, with a pair of upholstered wing chairs bookending the table. "The armchairs give the kitchen more of a family-room feeling," Denyse says. A Swedish country settee backing up to a large window is softened with colorful blue and pink pillows ("colors the vibrant skies of the Hamptons are known for"). Antique wicker chairs across from the bench are casually slipcovered in a cozy plaid fabric.
A reproduction of an antique chandelier hangs above the table, and a striped cotton area rug provides warmth and softness underfoot while helping to define the dining area.
The lure of a kitchen is undeniable. No matter the occasion or time of day--from tempting aromas of coffee in the morning to fresh-baked bruschetta before a dinner party--it's the room that seems to have a magnetic pull. And while attracting people may be no problem, interior designer Denyse Rinfret prefers to create kitchens where people will linger. That motivation drove her interior design for the Hampton Designer Showhouse in Bridgehampton, New York. "I wanted a kitchen where people would gather and stay, not just a place to grab a bite and leave," says the Manhasset, New York, designer. "I like the kitchen to be a communal room where people sit with family and friends to eat, converse, read, or just relax."
A decorative plate rack, pilasters flanking the farmhouse sink, brushed nickel fixtures, and marble tops and mosaic backsplash give the new kitchen vintage character.

New decoration 2011 designed by Candice Olson
Candice Olson, a leading designer in the United States and Canada, began her career in commercial and residential design after graduating from the School of Interior Design at Ryerson University in Toronto. Candice received accolades and media attention for her distinctive and exceptional work before moving her design career to television. In fact, earlier in her career, the New York Times identified her as “one to watch.”
Candice’s foray into TV began when a Canadian station profiled one of her award-winning design projects. Her unique approach to residential design and engaging personality led to a weekly stint as a design contributor to the show. Today, Candice can be seen as the host and designer on HGTV’s Divine Design and as a judge on HGTV Design Star. She has been featured on the Today show, Live! With Regis and Kelly, The View and The Oprah Winfrey Show. In addition, Candice writes a syndicated biweekly newspaper column that runs in more than 400 U.S. newspapers.
In 2005, Candice launched "The Candice Olson Collection," a successful brand of home decor products, including upholstered furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, lighting, bedding and more. Candice's signature style is one she describes as "a fusion of traditional form, scale and proportions, with the clean, crisp, simplistic beauty of modern design.”
When she’s not in front of the camera, Candice enjoys spending time with her family, whether it’s skiing or relaxing at the beach. Candice resides in Toronto with her husband and two children.

HGTV is getting their fourth eco friendly home in New Mexico. HGTV dream home is one of the classic styled farm house having a beautiful surroundings set in beautiful New Mexico. The floor plan for the dream home was excellently planned and also the various rooms are designed specifically.
The foyer at the entrance of the house is designed in such a manner that the person can immediately sense then it is the wonderful retreat set in the heart of the wine country of California. Since entertainment is considered to be the key for this region, the HGTV dream home is designed for accommodating the gatherings of friends and family. The HGTV dream house has a living room, dining area, children’s room, kitchen, master bedroom, bathrooms and lastly car garage.
The HGTV dream home is built on thirty six hundred sq feet land area with the various rooms dispersed on the two floors of dream home. Outside the house, there are visitors are welcomed with the porches at the front and rear of the dream home. Along with this, there is a landscape outside that is designed keeping in mind the outside entertainment for the visitors. Also there is a two car garage that is detachable which makes it easier for the visitors.
The HGTV dream home is designed particularly keeping in mind the in house demands and also at a location that has a market nearby in the scenic town that is a perfect place for shopping, roaming around, dining and strolling.
