My heart was overflowing with joy when these images popped into my inbox last week! A while back I blogged about an e-design I did for the sweetest client, Carolyn. She wanted to update her living room into a sitting room/library of sorts. Carolyn has been keeping me updated on her progress ever since we finished her inspiration board! To take us through the design stages, here is the before, room we used as inspiration, and the after:
After seeing her space and learning about the look she was going for {she sent me the photo of the living room above via Live Creating Yourself blog} I came up with this design plan:
And that design plan shortly became this comfortable and totally chic little sitting room...
And that right there, friends, is why I love interior design. What a joy it is to see a design plan collide with real life and spill out in our homes :)
Didn't Carolyn do a FAB job putting the room together?! What's your favorite part?
If you're interested in my e-design services, I'd be happy to work with you! Take a look at my e-design page and email me for more information and pricing at michaelawarner90@gmail.com

PS. Shortly I will be in search of person or family in the Bay Area, California who would be willing to let me design a room in their home {design services free of charge}. The client will only need to be willing to make the changes and put the money into the space. Happy Monday, everyone!
A few weeks ago I got an email from a prospective client, who was inquiring about my e-design services. This girl had me at "I love your bedroom wall color, and I'm thinking it would be a great color for our living room in our apartment!" Needless to say, I was over-the-moon-excited to work with Jill! Over the last few weeks I've put together a design plan for Jill and her husband.
Here's the room before we started to work on it:
Here's the design plan:Jill wanted something fresh, modern, bright and cozy. The size of their apartment is small, so creating a space with 3 functions {dining, work space, living area} was the challenge. She had her big brown sectional already, so we designed the space around it, hoping to create a more light and airy room.
With the addition of white furniture, fun prints, and an awesome gallery wall complete with a LOVE print and wrapped wedding canvases, their living/dining room is really shaping up!Pops of YELLOW will be throughout the room, too!
This design has been so fun to work on for many reasons! First of all, she has been buying the furniture as we go and is wonderful about sending me picture updates! Second, Jill and I have really become friends through the process, and I know that if we didn't live on opposite sides of the country, we'd be best pals (:
She was so kind in letting me show off some of the sneak peeks....{out of respect to my paying clients, I don't share resource lists with readers...sorry!}
Here's her new media console:
A great shot of the new rug and ottoman:
And of course her new awesome desk:I can't wait until we get the curtains up, dining table in, bulletin board up, and our awesome new pillows. I know Jill will keep me updated! {Thanks girl!}
What do you think so far?? Cool, huh? I adore the gray color on her walls. Great color, if I do say so myself (:
If you are looking for a second pair of eyes to take a peek at a room in your home, I'd love to help you! Feel free to check out my e-design packages on my e-design page, or email me at michaelawarner90@gmail.com for more information. I'm currently booking clients for January!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of designing a dining room and entry way for a sweet client. I always love the chance to receive pictures of a room and be able to transform it (: I immediately loved the architecture of Amanda's space. The chair railing, high ceilings and arches stole my heart:

We knew we were keeping the dining table and buffet, but other than that, we needed to embellish! She told me she loved gray...dream come true for this girl!
Here's what we ended up with for the entry:And the dining room: Entry: Adding a colored piece of furniture is a great way to add a whimsical element to any space. This entry console will be paired with an occasional chair {perfect for slipping shoes on!}, as well as a stunning mirror for that last look before running out the door. New lighting, a rug, and some accessories and this entry will be inviting in no time.
Dining: We painted the walls a soft gray, added a steel gray geometric rug, flowy curtains with a subtle pattern to dress up the windows, a lamp for the buffet, a small gallery wall above the buffet, floating shelves on another wall for fun accessories and a new pendant light. I also suggested she paint the entire chair rail white. This will highlight the great feature of the room, and look crisp and clean next to the gray on the top half. I just know the room will look so fresh when it's all spruced up!
I can't wait until I get a peek at the paint job after she's done (: What a difference some pretty gray and white will make...dontcha think?

A few weeks ago I did a family room e-design for a client who told me she had a fireplace with the stone running all the way up to the ceiling. I was blown away by how beautiful this fireplace was when I saw the pictures Brenda sent! The dilemma? How to position the seating around the fireplace and media center. This is a common problem folks tend to have when trying to configure their family rooms. They want to highlight the focal point of the space, while making it a functional room at the same time!
Family Room Stats:Center Stage: FireplaceFunction: TV and relaxing room
Here's the stunner:
Here's the layout (sofa is to the right of the fireplace against the wall)
The main thing I tried to fix was the flow of the space. Sometimes the best way to create a better flow is to bring furniture to the middle of the room, instead of pushing it all up against the walls. Also, by turning the couch (the pretty new one you'll see in the inspiration board!) perpendicular to the fireplace, we still incorporated the focal point without making it feel like it was out of place or just floating on the wall. I also moved the entertainment center to the opposite wall, since it was the only wall without windows, an archway, or fireplace. To balance that side of the room, I sourced some bookshelves to give it height. A fun garden stool, end table with a mirrored top, and introducing some blues and greens really helped to freshen the space.
Here's the new layout I came up with:
The inspiration board for the family room is clean, traditional, soothing and has a touch of modern elements seen in the occasional chair, cube ottomans, mirrors and pillow fabrics.
And finally, here is the media wall that I designed:
I think the flow will be wonderful and the greens and blue will be perfect with the colors in the fireplace materials. Can't wait to see the room's progress! What do you think? Have you ever had a space planning issue like these when trying to draw attention to a focal point?
If you need help in designing a room in your home, please visit my e-design page or email me at michaelawarner90@gmail.comI'd love to help you create a space you love by coming up with an inspiration board, layout, or help you solve a quick design dilemma.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of working with the sweetest e-design client, Carolyn. I was so excited when she emailed me telling me about her living space right off the kitchen, that she wanted to turn into a library/sitting room.First she sent me a few pictures of her space. Here's one so you can get the feel for it:
I was loving the fireplace wall and grand ceiling height already.Carolyn had her eye on an amazing settee, so I knew we had to get her one within her budget for the space. I always advise clients to spend money on major classic pieces like sofas, chairs, rugs and other statement pieces. Always put your money toward the items you love most, because we want to fill our homes with only things we love...right?!
After we hunted down the perfect settee, it was time to find our inspiration for the room. Carolyn and I were both smitten with this space by Alaina from Live Creating Yourself, so we knew we'd found our inspiration.
Next, we set up the room including her two chairs, a few new pieces and some fun accessories.
Here's the finished design plan:
I suggested we ditch the blinds on the windows flanking the fireplace and instead, add more of her flowy white drapes, purchase this chic mirrored coffee table, and throw in a punch of color...which Carolyn was totally up for! #dreamclient
I think the chic library turned out wonderfully! That settee sure was the cherry on top. And the sprinkles on top of that cherry is the fact that Carolyn keeps me updated on her progress. She just got done painting the room this soothing gray:
Totally pops the white fireplace, trim, and high ceilings. Not sure about you, but I can't wait to see it all finished!
If you need help designing a space in your home, feel free to check out my e-design page or email me at michaelawarner90@gmail.com for pricing and more information. Now's the time to book, as I start school up again in a month! During the school year I will have limited spots available. I'd love to work with you!

Over the past few weeks I've had the opportunity to work on some client e-designs. Online designs are so much fun for me. I enjoy receiving the pictures of their current space and putting my imagination to work!I just completed a sophisticated chic library for a client last night and can't wait to share it with you, but for today, I'm going to show you a recent entry hall design I did for Katie, from Married with a Pup. She was such a blast to work with!
She sent me these photos of her entryway:
After seeing the photos and hearing a bit about how the space needed to function, I came up with this design:Since the entryway is like the cover to a book, first bite into a new food, first time you try on that new dress....{you get it(: } it needed have some drama. First impressions are big, people! I suggested to paint the door black, as I think it will really take the room to the next level! A console table with storage, a shelf for coats and scarves, and a great textured rug help to pull the look together. So with Katie's input and direction, we decided to go with a modern, yet semi-traditional entry way, perfectly welcoming into each adjacent room. I think it will make a great first impression.
I love how it turned out and can't wait to see photos of the finished space!
