Spanish architects Nicolas Montesano, Victor Vila, Boris Hoppek were recently awarded announced the winners for their proposal for the Amsterdam Iconic Pedestrian Bridge competition. The proposal a central enclosed space or water plaza is defined by its circular shape partially submerged underwater to allow boats can cross through whilst pedestrians and cyclists can pass along its perimeter.

2 housed in a 5 storeys high on 388m
2 site is part of a 1000 room expansion taking place on the TU Delft campus.

A competition entry by architectural practice
Vector 17, for the masterplan of a
natural protected area around a former Second World War anti-ship emplacement of the Italian Navy. The proposal maintains the character and physical substance of the existing buildings, while providing an acceptable comfort and flexibility in the programme. The design is conceived as a series of small interventions at a minimum cost, adding progressively more complex functions over time to interact with each other, triggering a differential, adaptive change.

The competition entry for the Dalian Library & Media Centre was conceived by
10 Design to be a transformative environment that pulls visitors into a unique landscape. The 55,400 m
2 building weaves to create a series of courtyards and topographic undulations forming a bold urban landmark. The mass is shaped by dynamic and expansive views toward to the surrounding sea and mountains. The metal proposed for the façade will be a dark grey brass that will develop a rich patina over time and will have natural resistance to the harsh marine conditions.

The Biosphere Sustainability Centre is a proposed reuse of an 11,508 m
2 brownfield site near the Thousand Islands in Gananoque, Canada into a new cultural, social, economic, and environmental centre. Designed by
Paul Raff Studio the Centre includes exhibition and conference facilities, artisan studios, market retail, and office space. Additionally, the facility will consist of two green roofs with walk-out gardens, a walk-through biowall that cleans and recycles the air, and sculptural sun shades alongside the building.

Qingdao Water City is a proposed 180,000m
2 development to be located on a 120acre site on Aoshan Bay in Goyang City, Korea. Designed by multi-national architectural firm
NBBJ the development when complete will consist of 10 exhibition halls, one multi-purpose hall, retail and a central outdoor expo plaza. The form of the facility is intended to induce associations of flowing water and is complimented with a landscape made of natural foliage minimizing the need for irrigation.

Master Plan for the New Capital City of Equatorial Guinea by
IDF-Ideias do Futuro, located on the Wele-Nzas. Designed for 160,000 inhabitants on 20 acres, the concept is both modern and respectful of the country’s cultural roots and natural environment.
Sustainability is also central to the design and see the creation of retention basins, protection of the margins natural vegetation & watercourses as well as the construction of a canal to divert the excess water.
The Master Plan is planned along an orthogonal matrix making use of the existing road network and includes urban parks, cemeteries, zoo, botanical garden, sports park, libraries, a new administrative centre, cathedral, mixed housing and a golf course.

Enota to complement existing skiing facilities in the town of Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The scheme is comprised of an introverted saunas, massage parlours and swimming pools. Hotel Liesma is a 15,000 m
2 music-themed hotel in Jurmala, Latvia designed by architects
Praud Studio. The hotel is structured on a number of cones containing public facilities (café, restaurants, etc), freeing up the ground level as a open plaza. The angled slab contains hotel rooms, a lounge and an observatory taking advantage of the views beyond the canopy of the trees.
