It's Thursday and I can barely focus today. You know why?! I get to meet three of my blogging besties tonight at the San Francisco Blogger Meet Up! Michelle, Natasha, Courtney and I will be Party Rockin' in the house tonight.

And you better believe we're gonna have a good time (:

Along with that theme, I thought it'd be fun to share some of my favorite party table tops, decorations and ideas.

Fashion Friday #38: Ikat Sundress & Waterfall Braid Tutorial

Posted by MAKMU ta On Friday, June 17, 2011

Summer rocks for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it means lots of cute prints, dresses and sun!
Remember Natasha's guest post last week where she shared her favorite design trend of 2011?  Yep, it was the ikat trend.  And can I just say how glad I am that it's carried over into fashion, too? Or how glad I am that I found this cool-colored ikat dress at TARGET?!  Shut the front door, I know.
So for our first 85 degree-Northern-California-summer-day, I sported it:

She makes me laugh.
Dress: Target
Shoes: Nordstrom
Flower: Whippy Cake

I'm excited to share with you the tutorial on how to do your very own waterfall braid like I showed you last week:

Here's how you do it! It's a tad bit dark, but I hope you can get the general idea:

Happy weekend, friends! Let me know if you try it.

Don't forget to RSVP to the San Francisco Design Blogger meet up on July 21st if you'll be in the Bay Area (: We'd love to have you if you blog about design, interiors, or home decor!

Boy, Oh, Boy!

Posted by MAKMU ta On Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Last week I held a baby shower for my sweet friend Sarah.  Her and her husband are having their first baby boy this September!  The girls in the design department came to Meadow Boutique for the shower and it was perfect.  We played two games. One was cutting the blue ribbon the length you thought would fit perfectly around her baby belly, and the second was testing baby food.  Don't worry- it was just the fruit kind!

Have a look:

Delicious Cupcakes

Beautiful baby roses:

Adorable baby plates in the colors his nursery will be!

I got some cute balloons:

Since we were at Meadow, some of the girls tried clothes on and modeled for us (:

Sarah is having a baby boy and naming him Carter! Isn't she cute?!

Carter is one lucky little boy! Stay tuned to see Sarah's design concept for the nursery (:

Grandma's Vintage 80th Birthday

Posted by MAKMU ta On Thursday, October 21, 2010

This summer my mom, aunt and I planned my grandma's 80th birthday party!  Since she was born in the 30's, I thought it'd be fun to do a vintage themed party, reminiscent of that decade.  We had lots of fun putting it together!  My aunt and I did the decorating and my mom did food and some decor as well.  Planning this event reminded me how fun it is to put parties together, and made me think that Event Planning could always be a fun avenue to go down (:  I was the Event Coordinator at my high school and it was really great being able to plan the dances, pick the flowers, choose the location etc.

The party featured pictures of movie stars from the 30's, lots of pink, red and white roses, black table cloths, beautiful glass plates, our great grandma's silver, delicious cupcakes, a fun memory table and a pianist even came to serenade the party with hymns and music from old musicals.

So, without further ado, here are some pictures from the day!

Our living room with our baby grand piano.  It's 100 years old, and I love it (:

Memory table when you first walked in.  Included my grandma's sisters old hymnal, pair of old gloves, pearls, pictures of grandma, old doll clothes and the yummy cupcakes!

Red Velvet were the perfect cupcake because they are so southern...and my grandma grew up in Alabama!

Cupcakes by BreCakes.

Isn't she cute?!

Outdoor seating area we created with a rug from Pier1 Imports and our coffee table from inside with a vintage bird cage on top (:  Some colorful accent pillows top it off.

Centerpieces

Candy Table.  All the candy were sweets that were invented in the year she was born!
Party Guests
Even Shasta enjoyed the party (:

It was lovely.  Happy Thursday!
