My darling little sister came into town this weekend with her family. We squeezed a lot into 23 short hours. We managed to fit in the following:
1. watching my daughter play in a basketball tournament;
2. a few holes of golf for the guys;
3. of course, watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats win!
3. of course, watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats win!
4. rollerblading and playing outside;
5. grilling out for dinner;
6. making the delicious, yet disastrous looking Oreo balls pictured below;
7. quick shopping trip for the girls;
8. movie for the kids;
9. a few cocktails for the adults;
10. church for the entire family;
11. lunch;
12. a sad goodbye.
I have been on an Oreo Ball making kick lately. I MUST stop! I'll add the recipe at the end of this post. Warning: They are highly addictive and you should only make them when you have to take ALL of them to a party. Oh, and this batch was just for the kids, so I didn't really care what they looked like. They still tasted the same.
This sweet little guy just couldn't hang on any longer. He had a full day of being carried around and doted on.
We tapped the night off with a some wine (and yes, we are wearing matching PJs). I bought myself some and then went back and got my sister a matching set. Hey, that's what sister's are for. We had a fantastic time and I didn't want it to end. We must make it a point to get together more often.
Oreo Ball Recipe
1 package of Oreo cookies (I used Double Stuff)
1 package (8 ounces) of cream cheese softened
1 package (12 ounces) of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil shortening
Process Oreos to crumbs in a food processor or with a mixer
Add cream cheese and continue to mix (I put the mixture in the refrigerator to harden for about an hour)
Divide mixture into 24 balls and place on wax paper lined baking sheet
Meanwhile, microwave the chocolate chips and shortening for about two minutes
Using a toothpick, dip the Oreo balls into chocolate, coating all sides
Return to wax paper and then place in the refrigerator until ready to serve
Add sprinkles if you wish
ENJOY!
