Properly English? I don't think so...

The sun came out unexpectedly today...

... so I came out too, and with me...

... the gloriously large blue-white mugs, given to me by some very sweet pupils many moons ago.

It was late afternoon...

...and with the man in the house very busy at work, and the children in need of their evening meal, no real tea party did actually take place here today. But one day soon, I will recreate this little scene, adding freshly brewed tea in the mugs and appropriate biscuits to nibble. I shall practise raising my pinkie finger high in the air, as is customary for the ceremony...

When the man spotted the net curtains - used as table cloth here - I had bought at IKEA for a penny, and with the intention to use as mosquito nets, he said...

"Congratulations darling, you have become properly English, you have bought net curtains!" A slightly hair-raising accusation, and protesting wildly, I hurriedly folded and put them away. Far away. Out of sight. Out of mind. Forgive me, any potential net curtain lovers out there, it is just not my thing.

And in real life, my garden is not often the tranquil haven previous pictures may have fooled you to believe... Not with the unending list of garden chores, fence painting and other jobs that shamelessly block my piece of mind. Not with the plastic fantastic that accompanies children. Not with the noise level that inevitably comes with mentioned children...

...and I wouldn't have it any other way!
