Each Season Brings...

I have noticed that each season brings a sense of renewing - revigorating. We love each season 
for what it brings to us. In winter - we are in awe of the structure of the bare-leafed trees, the 
clear, crisp air and depending upon where you live, the beauty of freshly fallen snow. In spring
we look forward to life renewed. To the light green leaves on trees and plants, to flowers 
emerging from dormant soil and to a warmth in the air. In summer we look forward to sunny
blue-skied days, to summer blooms and garden harvest, to vacations and to enjoying the fullness
of life. In the Fall, we enjoy the onset of crisp air, of frost, of the changing of the color of the leaves,

of the fullness of the harvest and fall blooms. Each of us has a favorite or two. But, with each 
season we look forward to what it brings. One of the things that Fall brings here at my home is

the Hurricane Lily or the red Spider Lily. Prior to living here, I had never seen them before. But, 
one day there they were! Each year they come back like clockwork - during hurricane season. 

I have found that they are common in the southeastern United States. The Hurricane Lily appears 
on stalks, similar to the Surprise Lily.

 They have five to seven flowers with very long anthers-
giving reason to their other name Spider Lily. 
Mine are scattered here and there in the garden and once the flower dies, then the leaves appear - 

bringing energy to the plant to produce once again these remarkable heralds of time and season.

I hope you are enjoying the changes - I have noticed that several of you have begun changing
your decor to reflect the colors of Fall and are enjoying the season in many other ways.
