Hello everyone!
My Dad wanted me to share with you, his readers, my first experience to the Dentist office. Although I have been to this office a few times with my parents, it was only for their appointments. If I was quiet and behaved I sat in the room with them and watched. I have to say, I was a bit cautious watching my Dads lay helplessly while someone I just met, wearing a mask over their nose and mouth, strange glasses that remind me of goggles and rubber gloves, stared into poor Papa's and Daddy's mouth. Usually, I get excited about things I see older kids or grown ups do and I just can't wait to have my turn... this was not one of those things.
Here I am in the lobby, a little nervous with butterflies in my stomach, waiting for my name to be called.
After a few short minutes, I was escorted back to one of the rooms and asked to make myself comfortable on a brand new chair that was still wrapped in plastic. The hygienist was very pleasant. I was still worried because I remembered the evil witch was pleasant before she showed her true colors. She had her back to me and seemed to be reaching for a metal object. By now, I was growing a bit suspicious. What was she going to do to me? I called to Papa to see if he was seeing the same thing. He assures me it was okay and that I would be alright.
Seconds later, 2 other people with masks and gloves entered the room and began to whisper to the hygienist! I couldn't quite make out what they were talking about and that made me even more nervous.
I turned to Papa and said " I want to go home". Again, Papa looked at me with a smile and told me nothing bad was going to happen and explained what the hygienist was about to do to me.
She turned and introduced me to "Mister Thirsty". Papa had already briefed me on the suction tool and its purpose. I preferred the hygienist's term, Mister Thirsty. She was very gentle and nice. She even kept checking up on me to make sure I was okay. Unfortunately, every time she asked me how I was doing, I had something in my mouth that made it hard to answer. Finally, she gave Papa and I the good news that I have no cavities and my teeth are in good health. Yay! Papa was even happier than me.
I got to hold Misty Thirsty and waited for her to signal me to put it in my mouth to suck out the excess saliva and yucky stuff. So far, I was enjoying myself and experienced no pain or discomfort whatsoever.
Here, I'm getting my teeth polished. This part tickled a bit.
A look of relief!! its over and I was given an "A" for being a good first time patient.
After my appointment was over, I sat on papa's lap to give him moral support and to make sure he listened to the hygienist and did everything she asked him to do like I did.
