And while I'm on the subject of giveaways I have to say I had a very lucky summer. You have to know that I'm not the sort that wins things as a rule, so to win four giveaways over the summer was lovely and completely thrilling. Let me show you what I got and publicly thank the givers.
1) I won a $60 CSN gift certificate from Joy at Thrifty Parsonage Living. Now one thing you may or may not know about me is that I'm very indecisive so I haven't actually spent my money yet, because I can't decide what to order. I'm still leaning toward a Dash and Albert rug but I'm not sure which one to select and I'm not sure where to put it. Here are some of my favourites -
Do you see my problem - they are all so gorgeous. I have until December 31st to decide, so stay tuned.
2) I won a sweet little bird necklace from Laura at Bright, Bold, and Beautiful. I love it and wear it constantly - in fact, I have it on now. FYI the photo below is not a picture of me wearing the necklace - my skin doesn't look gray and hopefully doesn't look so, well, leathery.
3) I also won a set of beautiful gray polka-dot bowls from Sharon at Sharon at Home. They are the perfect addition to my gray and white kitchen. Aren't they gorgeous.
4) And finally I won these amazing monkey fist nautical knots made by Suzanne at Meridian Road. They are an integral part of my November decorating plan. I know, I know, you're all sooo excited to see what I do with them.
I also want to mention that Elizabeth from Clear Blue Sky passed on this award to me.
I'm not sure I really qualify since I don't really feel domestically gifted. However, I'm pleased as punch and honoured that Elizabeth would think of me - she's sweet like that.
As part of receiving the award I'm to answer a few questions - tough ones too - but I'll do my best.
~If you could befriend a famous person, who would it be? and why?
I had a difficult time deciding and I'm sure I will remember lots of famous people after I post this. The one that came to mind is Greg Mortenson. He's the fellow who wrote "Three Cups of Tea" (which I actually haven't read yet, but it is in my stack of books to read) and is building schools to educate girls in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. I really admire people who do something for others and take risks and get out of their personal comfort zone doing so.
~What sounds make you happy
Hearing our kids talking and laughing together, a gentle rain, and the sound of ocean waves.
~What is your favorite dessert?
Anything chocolate - chocolate cake, chocolate brownies, homemade chocolate chip cookies, even good-quality plain chocolate pieces.
~Which holiday do you look forward to the most?
I love Christmas, especially the tree, the food, the chocolate and magazines that hubby puts in my stocking every year, and the fun times together as a family. The only part of Christmas I'm not so keen on is the stress of getting it all organized.
~What is your all-time favorite movie?

~What is your all-time favorite movie?
There are actually quite a few movies I like, since I really like movies, so I'll have to allow myself three: "You've Got Mail" (with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan), "Pillow Talk" (with Rock Hudson and Doris Day), and "Rear Window" (with James Stewart and Grace Kelly).
So there you have it - a few tidbits about me and a great big thank you to my fellow bloggers for their wonderfully generous giveaways that I'm now enjoying.
