preserving a memory

She wanted me to paint a rose

As I was clearing out my daughter’s things from her room
after her wedding, I snatched a photo of this painting
I had done for her a couple of years back. She had just
moved into this room and wanted things to hang on the walls.
Our old house has three bedrooms and until my son moved out
she had shared a room with her sister.
Now she was to have her own room –
and she wanted me to paint a rose.
I showed her some pictures of roses that grow in my garden and she chose this one.

She wanted it to be large and fill the canvas. I had never
Painted one so large and was a bit wary. But, I took a copy
Of the photo and created a grid so that I might get the
shape and curve of the petals.
She loved it – and it now hangs in her new home.

Now, I am decorating this room  as a guestroom-
Craft-Victoria Magazine room…
I might need to paint another rose.
I will show you soon some of the things
I've done.
Thank you for stopping by,
