~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1
Thoroughly clean glassware
Step 2
I thoroughly cleaned the sponge brush afterwards. I believe you can't have too many and that you should get as much life out of them as you possibly can.
apply Metal Leaf Adhesive to the
inside of the glassware using
sponge brush - allow to dry
30 to 60 minutes until tacky.
(follow package directions)
this is a project which you can multi-task. While the adhesive was drying I found other things to do - walk the dog, laundry, dishes, gardening - I used up that 60 minutes.
dries to clear
Step 3
Taking a small square of wax paper
swirl onto a sheet of silver leaf
capturing bits of the silver leaf.
apply to the inside of the glassware
using sideways strokes or pressing-
it's up to you. Buff the silver leaf
with wax paper.
note: how much you use is up to you.
Imagine the looking glass paint to be
somewhat sheer when candle is lit -
so the parts of the glassware that will
be painted will be a sort of a negative space.
Step 4
to attach more blue tape with the plastic
bag.
Step 5
additional strips of blue tape adhered to the first blue tape allow the plastic to protect the exterior of the glass from the spray paint
of glassware with strips of painter's tape
you want to completely cover and protect
outside of glassware
step 6
To apply Looking Glass Spray Paint
(recommend doing this outdoors)
shake the can several times - I did
50 to 60 - this is a very thin paint
that will run - don't worry - it will
cover well in the end.
Spray paint in short strokes
(horizontally or vertically - whichever works best for you)
covering
(horizontally or vertically - whichever works best for you)
covering
the entire surface of the inside of the
glassware. This will have some runs -
I just turned the glassware upside down
and twirled it around a couple of times.
Allow to dry at least 10 minutes.
This takes a good three coats to
cover sufficiently. You an remove
some of the plastic to take a peek to see
if the coverage is what you want.
The directions on the can say 1 hour - I gave it
