A Very Romantic Craft
I have seen a number of examples
of this very romantic craft -
using different methods -
I just had to try it!
After reading several examples
I chose to go with a method
combining
Silver Leaf and looking Glass
spray paint.
I love the results - the varying
texture and patina
the Silver Leaf gives the
glass
and the sheer elegance the
Looking Glass spray adds.
Above, you can see the texture
given to the votives by
the Silver Leaf. There
is also a more translucent
look - which shows up better
in lower light.
I inserted small votives to protect
the sides.
Above you can see the votives
without candlelight. They do
appear more opaque and
still beautiful and elegant.
Above are three votives
that I found - they have some
etching on them. I am looking
forward to seeing whether they
are visible after the faux mercury
treatment.
I will do another post with
a more detail step by step process
so that you might be able to
try this very lovely, romantic craft.
February is all about romance -
I love adding a little bit more
into my life -
in such an easy, way.
By the way-
the smaller votives
were formerly Glade candles.
Love their ribbed texture.

***
In this project I used one sheet of Silver Leaf -
the package comes with 25 - so that initially
it may seem a little expensive - but, I believe
that there are quite a number of projects
in these products to make it worthwhile.
