Come On In

I've been putting off showing you all this space because it was such a mess.  When we moved in, it became the room where we put everything we didn't know what to do with.  It's still not quite finished, but what the heck, I'll show you anyway.  But first, a little background.  The new office/den was originally a long narrow sunroom on the side of our house.  When we did the renovations, we split the room into two. One end became the mudroom and one end became the office/den.  My husband works from home on occasion and so this space was originally intended to be his home office. He got into a habit of setting up shop at the kitchen island when he was working, and so it sat empty for almost a year.  That's when I decided to move on in. Soon after I moved into the space, a TV, a couch, three kids and a husband moved in right behind me.  So much for having the space all to myself.  I really don't mind, just glad the room is now getting used.

What are you waiting for?

Come on in.

I haven't yet decided what to hang over the couch.
I'm kicking around the idea of hanging a large framed map of Kentucky here.
Embrace your roots, right?

Painting the bookshelves and desktop white really brightened up the space.

To the left of the couch was some dead space, so we added
a recessed shelf here to store board games and books.

More organizational storage.

I got this cute little thing at the thrift store last week.
(not the cute little thing in the green shirt, I've had him for about seven years).

Here is what the space looked like before we bought the house.

This is a view of the long narrow sunroom.  The far end is now the mudroom.
We got rid of most of the windows and the closet to the left.

Wow, I had forgotten how ugly that room was.
Thanks for taking the tour.
Also, thanks to all the new followers. I really appreciate all the comments. It makes my day!
