Medical Myths That Can Kill You, by Dr. Nancy Snyderman, is a quick read - and I was reading along quickly when I found this organizing tidbit:
The worst room in your house to stockpile your medicines is the bathroom. The humidity and swings in temperature can age medications prematurely, which is why I keep the real medicines - the ones we take by mouth - in a separate area in a hall closet. If you'd like to heed Snyderman's advice, you might want to consider a lockable case.
If you don't have that kind of storage space, just grab one of your old shoe boxes and arrange the essentials neatly inside. But remember: if you have children or grandchildren around your home, you must keep this box out of their reach. Use your built-in medicine cabinet for things like bandages and dental floss.

The Smart Guard Medicine Safe - available in two sizes - is sold on many web sites. [via Ohdeedoh]

Or you could get a locking medication box from Lockmed.
