Celebrating

Bringing family together
When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.  ~Joyce Brothers

I found this very lovely Old Country Rose tablecloth at Marshalls in the clearance section and knew it would be a perfect backdrop for our dinner celebrating our daughter's birthday.

Getting family together to celebrate is so much fun. I love having everyone sitting together sharing stories, teasing one another - laughing and having a wonderful time.
I feel so blessed to have such a loving, fun family.

I used our everyday Homer Laughlin plates. I just adore the creaminess of these plates and their smooth gleam.

I paired them with some of my Mary Kay plates, teacups and saucers.
My mother-in-law won these and graciously gave them to me.

To add to the sense of a Spring Garden theme,
I placed some sweet birds around the centerpiece.

I searched our garden for flowers to complement the rich colors
of the Old Rose tablecloth and was very surprised at how close
the Redbud flowers and the Forsythia flowers reflected
the tablecloth's beautiful colors.

I used milk glass goblets as vases to create low centerpieces and paired
a silver candelabra - I love the combination of candles and flowers -

I wanted the napkin's folds to look like flowers and in a
way was inspired by the shape of the Iris on the buffet.

The silverware belongs to my youngest - she was able to get
a whole box full - free - she's collecting things quite early.

The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family.  ~Thomas Jefferson
