Taking in the Beauty

It has been too hot to take advantage of our hammock this summer.

I laid out my patchwork quilt over hammock and brought out

Some bright fluffy pillows.

I did this in the very early part of summer and it was so nice.

I again prepared Lavender lemonade and took out a few books

I’d hoped to read through out the summer.

But, instead I just swayed with the breeze, looked up through

the oak tree’s branches at the passing clouds.

The squirrels are scurrying from tree to tree

a few birds are singing their song

and all of the other elements of life seem so far away.

I can hear a neighbor mowing his lawn,

the muffled tones of a couple talking as the pass by.

None of these things disturb my peaceful rest.

This has been a very, very busy day.

We’re to have company over tomorrow

for dinner – I will be very busy in the kitchen.

So, today I deep cleaned every room.

There’s a satisfying feeling in being able to sit

back enjoying the fruits of your labor.

I never cease to be amazed and to thank God

for the very many blessings he has bestowed upon my life.

There’s ups and downs and challenges to contend with,

but over all I feel so blessed and thankful

for the life God has blessed me with.
