VINTAGE LAMP LOVE

After putting together this design for a client, I had a little trouble finding the green glass lamp for a reasonable price. Since I am thrifty by nature, I have a hard time suggesting my clients spend more they need to for an item.

Last Wednesday, just before my appointment to present the design, I made a quick trip to one of my favorite thrift stores.  When I walked in, the most beautiful lamp greeted me. Let me introduce you....

Isn't she beautiful.  I love this lamp so much that I carted it around to every room in my house hoping to make it work.  I knew from the moment I saw it, that it would work perfectly in my client's home, but selfishly, I wanted it for myself.  After coming to the realization that I wasn't going to be able to make it work in my home, I cried briefly (kidding) and decided to offer it to my client.

She loved it and ended up buying it from me.  The color is gorgeous, it's vintage and the brass base is going to be perfect for her living room.  The lamp had a horrid shade on it, so I left it at the thrift store.  The one bad part about buying thrift store lamps is that the shade will often end up costing more than the lamp.  However, I scour thrift stores for shades too and if I can be patient enough, I usually end up finding one for only a couple of bucks.  Anyone have a great resource for lamp shades?

Hope you all had a great weekend.  We traveled to my hometown for the weekend to attend the annual "Corn Festival".  Yep, that's not a typo, the "Corn Festival".  There was nothing I looked forward to more as a child.  My kids had a blast and I got to catch up with some old friends.  A good time was had by all, until right before we got in the car to come home and my little one came down with a fever.  Looks like we'll be spending a few days on the couch together.  I'm making homemade chicken noodle soup right now to nurse him back to health.  I hope this is not a sign of how our winter is going to be.
