How to Paint the Ceiling

Painting a ceiling seems easy; but if you've tried this you may have noticed it may not be as easy as it seems and may even have a carpet or furniture damaged during the process. So we bring for you some tips for next time:
1- Prepare the room seems simple but many people do not: Ideally remove all the furniture in the room and put a plastic sheet or on the ground; if the plastic is very thin or of poor quality can be broken to walk and move on it, leaving the carpet or flooring exposed to an accident.
Remove all ceiling fixtures and any picture or mirror that can stain.

2. Prepare the surface: The ceilings are not painted as often as the walls and probably not cleaned frequently. Need a clean surface for painting or might end up peeling.
Use a broom to clean any cobwebs or dirt from the surface and then wet the surface lightly with a soft cloth. Checks to plug holes in which case it must be done before painting and let dry.
Make sure to close holes in the surface is not rough; use sandpaper if necessary to keep the surface uniform.
In case of not being able to achieve the original texture, it may be desirable to give a new texture to the entire roof to make it uniform.
If the ceiling is stained, it should first apply a primer stain; in addition to covering the spots will help hold the paint well.
It is recommended to apply a primer even when no spots, thus the roller will slide more easily.
It is especially important if you use a glossy paint because it provides a smooth surface brightness to shine through.

3- Crop: This is the first step in any paint job; refers to paint the areas that can not be reached with the roller.
Where the roof joins the walls we can twist making it much more comfortable taping (with masking tape), do not be alarmed if the tape to lift the edge has not been perfect.
Choosing the same line of sight across the room and sticking to the plan, the visual effect to hide the imperfections. Pour some of the paint on a boat much smaller and manageable (without overfilling) and used a ladder to perform this task. Use a brush of about 8cm.

4- Painting: This is the most entertaining as is extending the color on the surface, and is usually done quickly (this is where you will understand why I had to cut with a brush before passing the roller).
The roller should reach the edge of the piece where you cut, overlapping slightly. If you roll too close to the corners could end up staining the wall.

5- Finally, let dry and do not pick up anything until you are sure the paint is dry and no more need to paint or touch up any area.

* Tips for painting a ceiling:
1- The ceilings are often painted white or off-white to give the impression that they are higher. Medium and dark colors make the ceiling appear lower.
2- Buy good quality paint.
3- Fill in all the preparation before painting begins.
4- Let the paint dry thoroughly before applying the next coat, otherwise the paint might chip and then it is difficult to fix.
5- Wear shoes and old clothes to paint, so you do not mind dirty. It is best to wear cotton clothing or mixture, and wear a scarf or hat on your head to not get dirty hair.
6- Take your time and enjoy the process.
