Sometimes I tend to over think things and today I had one of those moments. Peyton (The Youngest) has seemed to be a bit more sensitive than usual over the past few days and I made the assumption that it was probably because there has been a lot of focus on the arrival of The Baby. You see Peyton doesn't really handle anticipation very well (as I am sure every other 4 year old is) so I thought that she may be a little nervous about what is going to happy over the next few days and what it will be like at home after The Baby arrives.
So, I decided to take her out to breakfast at one of her favorite establishments, Tim Horton's, for a little girl time.
Once she had settled in with her Vanilla Dip Donut I got serious with her and tried to talk to her about how she was feeling. I asked her if she was excited for the baby to come and she answered "Yes". I asked her if maybe she was a little nervous too and she answered "No". I asked her if she was concerned about Mommy being in the hospital and she answered "No". So finally I explained to her that she seemed a little sad over the weekend and I was wondering why. Her answer - "um, Mom I was just a little bit sad because Lainey was home and I couldn't play with her toys."
Seriously!!!! Here I am all concerned that Peyton is feeling a little unsteady because a new baby will be coming into the house and all she was upset about was that her sister was off from school for 3 whole days and that she didn't have reign over all of the toys. That's sisters for you:)
