After opening admitting I cannot sew in this post, I decided to get out the sewing machine and give it another shot. I have been on the hunt for some pillows for our new sectional. There is already a lot going on in there with the rug and curtains so I didn't want anything too crazy. Having no success in the stores or on-line, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I had the perfect fabric on hand already. Most of it is going to be used for slipcovers for the dining room chairs. I'm still waiting on the seamstress. She's talented, inexpensive and slow (not talking about my mom). That's okay, because I'm willing to wait for a job well done at a great price. Back to the pillows. I didn't want to use too much of the blue/green fabric because I want to make sure there is plenty for the slipcovers. I popped into Hancock's last night and grabbed a yard of a contrasting fabric for the backs of the pillows (on clearance, of course). Okay, I admit, sewing two pieces of fabric together isn't rocket science, but it still felt like quite an accomplishment for me. Hopefully soon I'll graduate to adding piping and trim. Not there yet.
Sorry, that was a lot of rambling for a few pillows. Here are two of the pillows I made.
Here is another one, but I can only take credit for the small one in the front. My mom made the other two last year.
Here's the best part, they are reversible! Depending on my mood, or what gets spilled on one side, I can mix them up as I please.
I also finally got around to adding to the gallery wall above the sectional. It previously looked like this.
I added two more frames and moved a few around.
That's our dog, Charlie, chilling on the back of the couch. He's making his blog debut.
