About six years ago, my sister and I started a tradition of meeting my mom in Louisville, KY, going to the spa, shopping (of course), eating a nice dinner and staying in a hotel for a night. Normally we do this the Saturday before Mother's Day. However, this year, that fell on Derby day. There was not a hotel to be found that day. So we postponed it until this past Saturday.
We got a late start on Saturday due to kids' activities, so we had to skip the spa. However, we managed to squeeze in some shopping and dinner. Since the night was still young, we decided to go see Bridesmaids. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! You must go see it.
We got up Sunday morning and headed to the well known "Lynn's Paradise Cafe". Apparently, it's well known to everyone but me. I just found out about it on Friday night. It was a kitschy joint with tons of character and great food.

After brunch, my sister had to head back home, but I was determined to get my full 24 hours worth of free time, so my mom and I headed to a huge antique mall in Louisville. Going to antique malls is one of my favorite things to do, but this place was so big, I actually got tired of looking about half way through.

This wingback has a great slim shape and I love the burberry inspired fabric.
I didn't love the price tag.
A long bamboo console was at the top of my "lusting after" list today. It has a marble top and it was in great condition. It was only $295, but I just couldn't pull the trigger. Pretty sure that baby wasn't fitting in my husband's 4 dour Acura sedan either. Just wasn't meant to be.
I loved this green metal coffee table with a carrera marble top. Kind of funky and classy at the same time.
I'm sure you've picked up on the fact that I love lamps by now.
How cool would two of these be next to your bed.
This brass one was beautiful. I am digging brass these days.
This finish on this cabinet is a little too primitive for my liking,
but the size of it and all the little drawers really appealed to me.
Lastly, well, the last picture I took before my camera battery died, is this chunky table.
So many things to love about this, the color, the legs and the light wood top.
It was a very memorable trip. I'm so glad we started this tradition and I can't wait until next year.
Maybe one of these years when my daughter and my sister's daughters are a bit older, they can tag along (or maybe not). It is kind of nice to have my mom all to ourselves for a change.
