Bee-autiful Transformation

This weekend I tackled the dining room table.
I spent several hours stripping and sanding the table.
While I was sanding, my neighbor came by wanting to know what I was up to. He is well knowleageable about furniture –

especially antique furniture. He told me our dining room set
was made from Honduran Mahogany and was in the Baroque style. He said that it was appropriate to paint the chairs and the
legs because Baroque furniture was often painted and at times gilded.

Once I had the top cleaned down to the wood I applied stain. My husband had just purchased a Red Mahogany, so I thought it would look great. I wanted a darker stain for the top. I think this works nicely.
We have a winner for the fabric choice
Fabric D

My husband and daughter both liked that one and so many of you did as well. I appreciate all your input and your suggestions.

I am pleased with the contrast of the red chairs, the yellow chairs and the table.

Replacing this carpet is on my list! I'd like a honey colored carpet with reds, rusts, greens, blues....

As you can tell, I have a few chairs that won’t be fixable.
I will put together the best chairs. I figure I’ll have
a couple more to complete the set.

I am pleased with the outcome. I am enjoying taking
what I have and making it better.

I think I have inspired my husband to tackle a few projects
of his own. The funny thing is, when we were discussing
fixing some light fixtures – he said, well if it doesn’t work
you can always paint it. I think I have him in my corner now!
